How do I restore a quarantined file? (3.x)KB Solution ID: KB720|Last Revised: July 7, 2015
In the event that your ESET security product has quarantined a file you know to be safe, the file must be excluded from the Real-time and On-demand scanner. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to temporarily disable protection, restore the quarantined file, and create an exclusion so that the file is not quarantined in the future.
- Open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?
- Click Setup → Antivirus and antispyware and then click Temporarily disable Antivirus and antispyware protection. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm this action.
- Toggle to Advanced Mode by clicking Toggle Advanced mode in the lower left corner or by pressing CTRL + M on your keyboard.
- Click Tools → Quarantine. Right-click the desired file and click Restore.
NOTE: To send the quarantined file to ESET for analysis as a possible false positive, right-click the file and select Submit for analysis. Add your comments and Contact email address and click Submit. The ESET lab appreciates your help in improving detection, and will contact you if more information is required (After submitting, you can proceed with restoring the file by right-clicking it and selecting Restore).
- Exclude the file from being scanned by the Real-time and On-demand scanner.

- Remember to re-enable antivirus and antispyware protection by clicking Setup → Antivirus and antispyware → Enable Antivirus and antispyware protection from the main program window.
