Error downloading file and cannot update virus signature database (5.x)

  1. Verify that your Internet connection is active by visiting ESET's home page.
  2. Clear the update cache:
    1. Open ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?
    2. Press F5 to open the Advanced Setup window.
    3. Expand Update, click Update and then click Clear (see Figure 1-1).
  1. Verify that your username and password have been entered correctly and click OK.

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Open the main program window and click Update Update virus signature database.
