Issue

  • You have ESET NOD32 Antivirus or ESET Smart Security Business Edition installed on your server and want to upgrade to ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (recommended)
  • You are upgrading your network to version 6 and want to upgrade to ESET File Security version 6

Why is it important to upgrade?

Solution

Server restart will be required

This process will require you to restart your server(s). Only continue with Part IV (the uninstallation of ESET NOD32 Antivirus or ESET Smart Security Business Edition) if you are able to restart your server at this time. Otherwise, bookmark this article and continue the upgrade process when it is suitable to do so.

I. Upload new license (.lic) files

Follow the instructions in the following ESET Knowledgebase article to upload your license file to the server: How do I update ESET Remote Administrator with a new license file? (if you have not upgraded or received your licenses for EFSW, contact your distributor or visit the ESET File Security FAQ for more information on upgrading).

II. Migrate configuration settings and install ESET File Security 4.5

For instructions to migrate configuration settings (for example, scheduled tasks, third-party application exclusions, etc.) from Business Edition products and upgrade to ESET File Security 4.5, see the following Knowledgebase article:
