Password-protect program settings in ESET Windows home products


  • Set a password to restrict access to program settings

This article applies to the following products:

  • ESET NOD32 Antivirus
  • ESET Internet Security
  • ESET Smart Security
  • ESET Smart Security Premium


If you are using Parental Control you do not need to set a new password. Your existing Parental Control password is already protecting your program settings.

  1. Open your Windows ESET product. How do I open my ESET product?

  2. Press F5 on your keyboard to access Advanced setup.
  3. Click User Interface, expand Access Setup, and then click the slider bar to enable Password protect settings.
  4. Type your password in the New password and Confirm password fields and click OK

    Settings passwords

    This password is different from your ESET-issued Password, and will be required to modify or remove password protection in your ESET product. In the event that you create a password and later forget it, refer to the following Knowledgebase article for assistance: I cannot access the settings – I'm being asked for a password. What should I do?

  5. Click OK to save your changes. You will now be prompted to enter this password each time you attempt to modify program settings.
